If you look closely my sculpting is "subpar" as well, but it generally works at a certain distance.
My indispensable tools are: pin vice with drill bit, pins (I have taken to using a 35 to 45 unwound guitar wire, especially for finer bits that need pinning), a small adjustable vice, and Tamiya quick drying epoxy putty. For sculpting my big break though was discovering silicone sculpting tools (just the cheap ones) although I still use my scalpel to carve the edges of belts etc. Finally I have been experimenting with making buttons with the end of a mechanical drawing pen, removing the fibre tip and using the hollow chassis to press buttons into the putty. Hope this helps - I will try to do a post around this one day!Bill Slavinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05056237500818603134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6102523900633432284.post-54475533882120475332021-06-29T11:22:18.527-04:002021-06-29T11:22:18.527-04:00My sculpting abilities are rather subpar, so for m...My sculpting abilities are rather subpar, so for me all these conversions are quite ambitious. Do you sculpt all the new parts, such as the bicornes, or do you also use parts from other figures? Anyway, your wargaming armies look awesome and are a great inspiration!

Greetings,

CWAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6102523900633432284.post-58947954272619871062021-06-29T09:42:29.960-04:002021-06-29T09:42:29.960-04:00Thank you, CW. My conversions mostly consist of lopping off the unwanted bits with a surgeon's scalpel, re-pinning arms in new locations and patching up the mess and adding new belts and bags with with modelling putty. I have since created some French ADC's, probably my most ambitious conversions to date, and I recorded that process a bit more - soon to be posted!Bill Slavinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05056237500818603134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6102523900633432284.post-88657184727531577492021-06-29T09:36:45.633-04:002021-06-29T09:36:45.633-04:00Great conversions!
